About
this site:
Welcome to
Research Strategies, a textbook in
informational research for students in higher education.
As of February
2008, the print version of the textbook went into third edition.
The online abridged version
(see menu left) has been updated, but is
much briefer than the print edition.
Use of the online abridged version is free as always. If you are using
Research Strategies
as a textbook, however, you are advised to get the paper edition,
which includes
a study guide, practice exercises with keys, assignments, updated screen
shots,
and a guide to writing terrific research papers.
Expanded
explanations of research question development,
online searching,
search engines, the hidden Internet, etc.
Extensive study guide, practice
exercises with keys, and assignments for each
chapter.
New screen shots.
Appendix on writing research papers.
A special "updates" website.
The
2008 third paper edition is 32% larger than the second edition. While the online
abridged version
has been updated,
most of the
additional features of the paper edition will not appear
in the online edition.
What does this mean for you?
If you have been using the online
abridged version, you may continue to do so. I will try to keep it updated as
much as possible.
If you are using this
book as a textbook, get the
paper version.
It's inexpensive and more
comprehensive. You
will especially benefit from the practice exercises
(with keys)
along with assignments that can be used in
classroom teaching.
